Fire and explosion safety

Fire suppression for rooftop PV

On rooftop PV plants, a fire starting in panels and cables can spread quickly to the roof covering and insulation. The VdS-approved PV suppression system detects fire under the panels with linear heat detectors and protects the roof surface with water through special nozzles.

How does it work?

Detects, opens, extinguishes.

  • Linear heat detector under the panels
  • Automatic activation via the control panel
  • Water to the zone through a deluge valve

Protected area

Where the fire starts.

  • Roof surface and cables under the panels
  • Safety strip around the panels
  • Optional panel–inverter cable route

Suitable roofs

Suitable for most existing roofs.

  • Flat and low-pitch roofs
  • Membrane, bituminous and sandwich panel roofs
  • Roofs with combustible and non-combustible insulation

Applications

Buildings with large roofs.

  • Factory and warehouse roofs
  • Shopping malls and logistics centres
  • Residential and complex roofs

System components

An integrated system.

  • Special PV nozzles
  • Galvanised or stainless steel pipework
  • Deluge station and water supply

What does Seika do?

From design to commissioning.

  • Feasibility and system design
  • Structural and water supply check
  • Supply, installation and commissioning
